Total Weight Gain: I have gained 17 pounds total so far. I'm getting awfully close to my 30 pound limit I have enacted on myself with 16 weeks left to go, but at this point there's really not much I can do except continue to work out and perhaps maybe cut back on my ice cream intake. Maybe the new cooler weather will help with that task?
Maternity Clothes: My sweet baby seester is took me back to Gap tonight. I got some more casual t-shirts to wear on the weekends, and some maternity leggings and yoga pants. I still think I'm good on work clothes. I need to keep the weight gain in check so the cute maternity clothes I have now will fit me the whole time.
Sleep: I have found a solution for sleeping through the night! Wake up at 4am because you have to use the bathroom. Come back to your room and find your husband snoring. Lay there unable to sleep for 30 minutes until you just decide to get up because your alarm is set for 5am anyway. Drive to Chicago. Go to Cubby Bear, watch everyone drink beers and wipe drool off of your mouth while fantasizing about having a beer. Go to Wrigley field and watch a baseball game in the sun. After the game is over, eat your weight in deep dish pizza. Get in the car and drive home. By the time midnight rolls around and you're finally back in bed, you'll be so tired you'll sleep like a baby until 9am! Woohoo!!
Gender: While I was at Gap shopping for my growing belly, I bought my first little girl outfit for Sam. I have been trying to hold off because I know I'll probably be inundated with cute girl clothes at showers and from hand-me-downs, but it's been a month since we found out this little monkey is a girl and I couldn't contain myself anymore! Here is a preview of the first pieces of her wardrobe:

The first one is my favorite. I have decided that I love adult looking clothes on little children more than I like childlike clothes on children. A ruffle tunic is the perfect example. Jake picked out the polka dotted ruffle butt bodysuit - he did good! My sister is fully aware she is absolutely NOT allowed to quit working at BR anytime soon!
Best Moment this Week: I didn't have any absolutely spectacular moments this past week, but sometimes just spending time with friends and family is enough to make an entire week great. That's how my week went last week, so I'd say overall it was a success!
Movement: Jake still can't feel her move, and the movement I feel is very sporadic. It's all very low in my abdomen too, so I feel like she must be sort of standing on my bladder and kicking me. This week the fruit of choice is eggplant. I also saw cantaloupe again on one of my apps, which I'm pretty sure is backtracking to week 22-ish? The fruit tracking used to be kind of fun but now it's just totally lame.
Food Cravings: Pinterest is the devil. I get on there and I just want to make every fatty, sugary, carby, yummy treat I see. I should probably avoid it at all costs until this baby comes. While we were in Chicago I bought some Garrett's popcorn (if you've never had it I highly suggest you try it next time you hit up the windy city) and I have been inhaling it ever since we got home. It is SO GOOD.
Symptoms: After spending 9 hours in the car on Saturday, my ankles looked like they belonged on Jabba the Hut. I legitimately could barely see my ankle bones they were so swollen, and it was uncomfortable to even bend my foot back. Luckily they went down by mid-day on Sunday. I'm starting to get nervous about my swollen legs even fitting into any boots this winter. I guess I'll have to get a new pair of boots with wide calves. DARN a new pair of shoes...
What I Miss: I'm going to start prioritizing this category because if I'm being honest, I still miss everything I said I missed 6 weeks ago. So this week I'm going with: I miss eating without feeling bloated. Even my bowl of Rice Chex in the morning makes me feel like I just sat down for Jersey Shore sunday night roommate dinner and kept up with Ron and Pauly D. After I ate that deep dish pizza on Saturday night in Chicago, I was uncomfortably stuffed for over 4 hours. I only ate a piece and a half and split a salad with Jake! That's nothing compared to my typical appetizer, full salad, 2 pieces of pizza, and beer. What gives?
What I am Looking Forward to: Clinchmas! The Reds are so close to a playoff berth. The magic number is 5. I'm selfishly hoping they wait to come back to Cincinnati this weekend to clinch so we can experience some magic like we did 2 years ago during Jay Bruce's walk-off home run to clinch the division. But even if they don't wait to do it at home, I'm still looking forward to going to some play-off games and hopefully cheering them on to a World Series Championship!
Exercise: I did pretty well last week, let's see if I can keep it up again this week. Monday I did that video I ordered, which I thought was pretty good and I'll continue to do it once or twice a week from here on out. Tuesday I rode my exercise bike for about 30 minutes before I went to the Reds game and stuffed my face with funnel fries. Thursday I went on a walk with EY and her adorable little guy who just chills in the stroller the whole time like a champ. Friday I did my own little arm workout. I was pretty impressed with myself for coming up with the idea of downloading a power hour app so that I could do a 30 minute workout, changing exercises every minute without having to look at a clock. Every time the song changed, I just changed my exercise. Not only that, but since I have music ADD, it really helped me get through without being bored with a song. I would highly recommend!
Noteworthy Items:
-I have reached a crossroads with this damn rocker-glider. I can't decide if I should get the one I truly want, but skip the ottoman because the chair itself is too expensive to splurge on the ottoman as well, or go with a cheaper chair and get the ottoman too. The chair I want has down cushions and a removable slipcover that can be thrown in the wash. The slipcover concept is so appealing because of all of the potential accidents that come with a newborn. Also I think it gives the opportunity to use the chair longer, because when I decide to move it to a family room space, we can change the cover if we want to get something that matches our downstairs decor better. But is all of that worth not having an ottoman to prop my feet up?!?! Will a nursing stool be just fine? I just don't know. HELP!
-I/we are getting really restless with our house. We've had two realtors come through our house to give us an opinion on putting it on the market, and we've walked through about 4 houses in Fort Thomas. We've considered buying a lot and building. We've also considered just saving our money and adding onto our house at some point. There are so many options, and none of them seem to be quite ideal, so I think we are just going to sit on it at this point. I just know when there are play mats and exersaucers and pack-n-plays all over my house, I'm going to be ready for more space! Again, I think I'll start playing the lottery so when we win we can just build something bigger that suits exactly what we want :) No big deal.
-Callie is turning into a champ with her purple splint. She runs up and down the stairs now, usually only using her 3 good legs. That, my friends, is quite humorous to watch. She's learned how to lay down and maneuver around without too much trouble now. I'll still be glad for her to get it taken off, but I'm happy to see her getting used to functioning with only 3 legitimate legs. I just really really hope that the splint works and we don't have to face the dreaded surgery option.
-No crafting this weekend due to our Chi-town day trip, but I think I'll get back to some more bow making and nursery decor this coming weekend.
-I had a 24 week check up today and everything is progressing as planned. My doctor must have missed his "pushed the due date back to January 11th" note and said my due date is January 7th. THIS GIRL IS NOT ARGUING WITH THAT INFORMATION. He said everything is progressing well and her heartbeat sounds great. I told him again about my back pain and he recommended massages, a memory foam mattress or topper, and memory foam pillows. We started small tonight with a memory foam pillow and we'll go from there. Memory foam is expensive and I am not trying to spend several hundred dollars on new bed materials! I'm going to call a medical massage place tomorrow and try a half hour massage sometime this week or next and see how that goes. If I don't start getting some better sleep soon, I'm going to become a very cranky individual!
-I am getting more and more ready to meet this sweet little baby! Although the next 16 weeks will fly by, I just feel like her arrival can't come soon enough!

I think the ottoman is a nursery necessity! Didn't have it with Ellery's chair, but it was bigger and I could sit indian style or use the recliner part. We now have a glider in Willis' room, and I don't think a nursing stool would cut it. Far, far too many nights falling asleep in there to be sitting with your feet on the floor or a stool. Good luck picking out something you love! They're WAY too expensive!
ReplyDeleteYou should try Becoming Mom Spa in Mason. They specialize in maternity massages and aren't too badly priced! FYI I saw you are registered at Buy Buy Baby and wanted to pass on the info that they accept the Bed Bath and Beyond coupons, even the ones for 20% off. This may help with your glider dilemma if it is at Buy Buy Baby:)
ReplyDeleteMica thanks for the input - I am so torn about the ottoman so it's good to have some other opinions :)
ReplyDeleteEmily - they don't carry the glider at BBB. A lot of those coupons exclude big brand names too which I think is so lame, but those coupons are awesome for bottles and other smaller things like that!
